VALEO (va-LAY-oh)

Aventura FL Memory Care ProgramsDerived from the Latin word meaning “to thrive,” Valeo includes memory-care specific programs created for residents with memory impairments like Alzheimer’s, as well as a holistic wellness philosophy. Every Valeo program is personalized for individual residents, taking into account their abilities and memory impairment. The wellness philosophy engages residents and encourages them to improve their well-being through four pillar focus areas:

  • Physical: Use nutritious food, exercise, and active pursuits to improve physical wellness
  • Social: Fuel existing relationships and create new ones with both people and pets in the community
  • Intellectual: Fire up your brain with creative activities that engage your mind, helping you recapture memories and preserve cognition
  • Spiritual: Connect with your personal beliefs and honor your traditions

The goal of the Valeo philosophy is to provide daily stimulation and give every resident personalized opportunities for one-on-one engagement. We help people build relationships and pursue their interests in an empowering environment.

The following services are included in your monthly fee:

Memory care services at The Sterling Aventura include assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADLs). Some residents with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia need extra help with ADLs, such as grooming, washing, dressing and walking between locations, while others require assistance with IADLs, like handling their finances, preparing meals, housecleaning and managing medications.

In addition to ADL and IADL services, we provide other services and amenities to ensure that we address our residents’ health and well-being needs. Personalized fitness programs, social activities and weekly outings are just a few of the many services we offer memory care residents. We not only want them to feel supported, but we want residents to feel engaged and connected to our greater community.

Our Florida memory care community is a family in and of itself. The staff that works here come to us because they want to connect with people and empower them to live stronger, fuller lives. We’re optimistic, caring and dedicated to your well-being.

We don’t believe in limiting your potential – or that of our staff. Everyone in our community – from clinically-licensed employees to our expert operations and dining teams – are trained to support individuals with memory impairments. Your day-to-day needs are our priority, as is your happiness. Our team has the permission and time they need to slow down and connect with you. We’ll help you build your own unique experience and the lifestyle that fits your preferences, with the support you deserve.

At The Sterling Aventura, every person on the team is part of your support network. Employees are trained to go above and beyond to meet your needs and provide an exceptional experience. But our goal isn’t just to support you — we want to understand who you are, where you came from and where you want to go. Team members are encouraged to start conversations, learn about interests and share experiences with residents. We also empower each and every resident to take time for themselves. Connect and discover shared interests one day, then take some quiet time for relaxation and privacy the next. We support your needs and how you want to interact each day.

Families are often one of the core pillars of joy and success for those with a memory impairment. Our Valeo memory care community is open to family and friends who want to visit, engage with residents and reconnect with fond memories. We’ll work with you to create comfortable spaces for connection and help you preserve the legacy of relatives and friends for your children and grandchildren.

It’s not unusual for family and friends to struggle to understand the daily challenges of those living with dementia. Experiencing dementia for yourself can help you better understand and empathize, improving communication and relationships. The Virtual Dementia Tour helps caretakers do just that.

The Virtual Dementia Tour puts you face-to-face with the tough situations that individuals with memory impairments deal with on a daily basis. The sensory simulation is designed to increase understanding, so you can strengthen ties with friends and family members.

What is a Memory Care Facility?

No longer just facilities, modern memory care communities have evolved from sterile, hospital-like settings to comfortable, homelike environments. Nurses and caregivers who work in memory care communities are encouraged to develop caring relationships with residents, provide assistance when needed and enable residents to remain as independent and self-reliant as possible. Memory care community residents enjoy days filled with fun activities that stimulate their minds, support their physical health and promote social connections that are so important to quality of life.

What are the Most Common Memory Care Services?

The Sterling Aventura provides everything a resident needs to live in comfort. Residents eat delicious meals and healthy snacks, they enjoy relaxation and fresh air in our beautiful courtyard, and they have the security of knowing that we are always monitoring their medical conditions. This comprehensive approach allows memory care residents to thrive in our community.

Does Medicare Cover Memory Care Facilities?

Medicare covers short-term stays in rehabilitation or skilled nursing facilities that help people recover from injuries or illnesses. In some cases, Medicare may cover expenses involving in-home rehabilitation care, as long as rehab services are performed by a licensed therapist or home health nurse.

However, Medicare does not pay for costs associated with residential retirement, memory care, assisted or independent living services. In specific circumstances, Medicare may cover expenses for short-term stays in places providing skilled nursing care. Contact The Sterling Aventura for help understanding complicated Medicare rules regarding payment options.
